Health: What to Eat, This or That?

I came back from a family wedding a couple of weeks ago and the pictures are being swapped and shared with everyone. It was great to see family that I haven't seen in such a long time. We laughed and talked and danced the night away, for what we could with some of the songs that were playing.

Everyone is back to their own states and routines with working and living life. Now comes the part with people seeing themselves in the pictures and not liking what they see. The vows to do better and live better by the droves. I, fortunately, am happy with myself. We all can improve on something, but, in general, I'm good.

eat this or that

With that being said, the sisters and I have dived into a 90-day challenge, if you will. Each, supposedly, giving $25.00 to the cause. Winner at the end of the 90 days takes all. Weigh-in is every Tuesday. No, there is no honor among thieves; therefore, we must each group chat a picture of the scale with our feet actually on the scale showing the good news.

I've created a board on Pinterest with tips and advice tricks and invited the sisters to join it. I've read about height versus weight and how many calories and exercises I need to do each day. I've read one post that states to never eat popcorn and the one right behind it that states popcorn is a healthy snack. I've read if you plateau during your progress to binge for two days and eat junk food, then start back going well again. Of course, the article right behind that states that if you plateau, then just cut some more calories and keep going.

eat this not that

It is all so confusing when you read every article. The first lesson I've already learned is to just do it. Just start, because it ain't gonna happen if it never starts. The biggest lesson I've learned about starting all of this is there is no easy fix. The weight wasn't put on overnight and it is not going to come off overnight. The hardest lesson I've learned is to do it for numero uno, the big kahuna, the big man on campus; yes, I'm talking about the reflection in the mirror.

The only person responsible for my happiness is myself. Everyone else is a cherry on top. That old adage about "Smile and the world smiles with you" still rings true today. It is great to have this challenge and I do hope each week that it can be motivating amongst the sisters; however, in the end, I ultimately have to answer to myself. I know me, and I am not looking forward to having to answer myself if I let myself down.
